First battery installed

We have recently commissioned the first battery on Bruny Island. This lucky resident now has a 10kWh battery and 5kW solar system they can use to manage their electricity consumption. There are several more systems being installed over the coming weeks.

We plan on using all batteries that are installed by Easter this year to manage the holiday load on the island.

We are working on an event in the near future to officially launch the project. We will post more information once we know all the details.

Second Intake of Trial Participants Confirmed

The Bruny Island Battery Trial is now in full swing, with the first battery storage system due to be installed in the coming weeks.

We are very pleased to confirm that there is a portion of subsidy allocation remaining and as such there will be a second intake of participants in the Trial.

Once again, participants for the remaining places will be selected via a ballot and we expect this will be conducted during the week commencing 19 December 2016.  All applicants will be notified of the outcome via email by 23 December, with official letters of offer to be posted early in the New Year.

The exact number of places remaining is to be determined, as we are still in the process of finalising the few remaining contracts from the first round of offers.

Previous applicants do not need to do anything to be considered for the second intake as initial applications have been kept on file.

Reminder: Subsidy Pre-approvals Expire 14 November

Please note that subsidy pre-approvals granted as part of our first ballot will expire on Monday 14 November 2016.  Completed subsidy applications must be submitted by this date and once the application has been received and reviewed, a notification will be sent outlining the next steps.

First round of participants have been selected

We are excited to announce that our first round of Bruny Island Battery Trial participants have now been selected as part of an independently run ballot process and letters have today been posted to all those who applied.  All applications that were not selected in the first ballot have been kept on file, as there may be an opportunity for a second ballot. We would like to thank all those that have expressed interest or applied to participate in the Trial. If you would like to receive updates as the Trial progresses, or if you would like to be considered for any future projects or initiatives that we run on Bruny Island, please register your details here.
