[vc_row el_class=”restrict_width”][vc_column][vc_gallery interval=”10″ images=”372,371,370,373″ img_size=”500×500″ onclick=”” el_class=”gallery gallery_top”][vc_column_text]Welcome to the home page for the CONSORT Bruny Island Battery Trial.<\/strong> CONSORT is an ARENA<\/a> funded research project and field trial,\u00a0which addresses how batteries can be used by householders to manage their energy while simultaneously being used to help manage the network.\u00a0During the trial, 34 battery systems<\/strong> were installed in homes on Bruny Island<\/strong><\/a> in Tasmania\u2019s south-east. Working in conjunction with rooftop solar<\/strong>\u00a0generation, these batteries are\u00a0coordinated<\/strong> to alleviate congestion<\/strong> on Bruny’s undersea power supply cable and to reduce the reliance<\/strong> on costly and polluting diesel generation<\/strong> during peak season, helping to stabilise\u00a0network voltages<\/strong> within acceptable levels, while simultaneously enabling householders to make optimal use<\/strong> of\u00a0their own solar power<\/strong> generation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

CONSORT\u00a0is a collaboration between\u00a0three universities (The Australian National University<\/strong><\/a>, The University of Sydney<\/strong><\/a>, and The University of Tasmania<\/strong><\/a>), electricity network provider \u00a0TasNetworks<\/strong><\/a>, and\u00a0Canberra-based startup Reposit Power<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Final Reports Released<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The final research reports<\/strong> for the Bruny Island Battery Trial are now available<\/strong>. The CONSORT team would like to thank all trial participants for helping to make the project so successful. We have developed and trialled some world-first technology, and have made many interesting discoveries along the way. A summary of the project findings is available in a Public Dissemination Report<\/a>, to be published on CONSORT’s ARENA project page<\/a>.
